Handbook
Okay, I know no one likes rules, so I'm going to make it short and to the point. Just please read them now so that you don't end up making a bunch of mistakes later. Most of it's just common sense and typical RP rules, but it's still important to read.
Character Rules
- No Mary Sues. If you don't know what that is, it basically means a perfect character. Google it if you want to know more.
- Please create a new account for each character. You can have as many as you want, but try to keep them active. I get that people have lives other than this site, and I don't want to make anyone feel pressured into giving up all their free time, but I don't want the site to die, either.
- An OC can't be related to a canon character. Sorry, but it'll get too confusing.
- If you're making a midnighter, please find a name for their talent (canon examples include firebringer, acrobat, polymath, seer, and mindcaster).
- Darklings and Slithers are NPCs.
- I understand that most people will want to make midnighter characters. That's fine. I don't expect everyone to create a daylighter for every midnighter they create or anything like that. Make whatever sort of characters you want.
- The same goes for canons and OCs. You can have as many as you want of either type as long as you keep them relatively active. Try to keep the canons mostly in character.
- I don't mind if you haven't read the books and still want to join. The only thing I ask is that you don't take a canon character and try to keep up.
Out of Character
- Don't get into fights out of character. Please. The last thing we need is bunch of OOC drama.
- Swearing is acceptable, but if it gets to be a problem, this may change. I don't want to see OOC posts with nothing but swearing.
In Character
- This site is rated PG-13. Nothing explicit, people!
- Don't god-mod. That means that you can't play someone else's character.
- Swearing in character is okay in character, but please limit it. I get it, they're mostly teenage characters and all. I just don't want to see long strings of nothing but senseless swearing.
- Your RP posts can be as long or short as you want. Just make sure you give the rest of us something to reply to. I understand that not everyone's going to write a novel for each post, but if your reply is "Josh laughed at Anna's joke because he thought it was funny.", there's not much Anna can do in response to that, and the person playing her will have trouble replying. So if someone writes you three paragraphs, don't reply with a one-liner.
